South Coast Head Start Is Accepting Applications For Our 2018-19 Program Year


South Coast Head Start is accepting applications for our waitlist for there FREE preschool and Early Head Start program for qualifying families! Openings may occur weekly and the wait list is used to fill any spots that come available. We offer a fun, researched-based curriculum; free and healthy meals; and child development, nutrition, and health screenings with follow-up support for all enrolled children. Free Tour at Oregon Coast Historical Railway

Open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9am-3pm. Admission is free. Display includes steam and diesel engines, two vintage cabooses and other equipment that can be boarded. Ring the bells! The museum features photos, equipment and artifacts of railroading and logging industries, as well as a toy train layout for youngsters.

Volunteers Sought for Railroad Group

The Oregon Coast Historical Railway is looking for volunteers to help out at their popular museum and display area in Coos Bay. No prior railroad experience is needed, just a desire to greet the many enthusiastic visitors who visit this year round attraction. The group also has a number of restoration projects under way, with a particular need for volunteers with carpentry or woodworking skills.

Hours are flexible but one thing is constant – just about everyone loves a train, so this is a fun place to visit and spend some time. If you can help, call Dick Jamsgard at (541)297-6130.

Trauma Recovery Support Group (TREM) TREM stands for Trauma Recovery & Empowerment Model and is a trauma-education support group focused on overcoming the effects of physical, emotional, and/or sexual trauma that clients have experienced in their lives. Classes include questions and exercises designed to help clients build skills for healthy relationships in all aspects of their lives. All course content, records of those attending, etc. is 100% confidential. TREM is a 24 week support group. Clients can join the current group schedule up to week 4, if they are joining after week 4 they will need to wait for the next available group. TREM currently offers the following Weekly times Available Until May 16, 2018: Tuesday Morning: 10:00-11:00am; Wednesday Afternoon: 1:-00-2:00pm; Thursday Evening: 5:30-6:30pm.
